QualiAnalysis Use Guide
A practical guide for segmenting, coding, reviewing, and building findings in QualiAnalysis.
1 Data Preparation
Start from the project workspace. You do not need to copy files manually into a folder outside the app.
- Select the correct Project after login.
- Use Upload Files in the left sidebar to import
.txt, .pdf, or .docx files.
- Each uploaded file becomes a Case inside the current project.
- Optionally organize cases into folders and set case metadata such as document type and attributes.
2 Open Coding Process
The core activity of this tool is segment-first analysis. You can save segments quickly, then refine codes and memos iteratively.
- Click a Case Name in the sidebar to load its transcript.
- Read the transcript in Transcript view.
- Highlight text directly in the transcript.
- Use the right sidebar Input Form to capture:
- Interviewee text for the main answer/evidence
- Interviewer text for question or context
- Assign one or more Coding Nodes, add memo if needed, and optionally assign evidence tags.
- Save the segment or press Enter for quick save.
Tip: A segment can be saved even before you finish coding it. This allows a fast evidence capture workflow before final code refinement.
3 Analysis & Review
After saving segments, use the review tools to clean, compare, and refine the analytical dataset.
- Analysis Table: Review all saved segments, edit them, delete weak ones, or jump back to the transcript highlight.
- Coding Summary: Review how segments are grouped by node to check consistency.
- Search: Search either the transcript text or saved segments and jump to matches.
- Global View: Switch between one case and all cases to compare evidence across the project.
4 Findings & Synthesis
Once first-cycle coding is stable, move up to findings and cross-case synthesis.
- Create or manage Elements such as Strategic, Organisational, or Relational.
- Create Themes inside those elements.
- Assign segments to themes from the Analysis Table.
- Review assigned quotes inside Findings to support synthesis and writing.
- Use Explore, Matrix View, and Visualizations to compare patterns across cases.
Tip: The recommended sequence is: segment -> coding nodes -> themes/findings -> cross-case synthesis.
5 Transcript Editing
The app includes a transcript editor for controlled text cleanup.
- Click Edit Transcript in Transcript view.
- Use Find and Replace to clean transcription issues.
- The system preserves the original transcript and stores the edited transcript separately.
- Edit carefully, because changing transcript text can affect highlight offsets for existing codings.
